چکیده
It is correct that one can estimate the elevation angles by using [1, Eq. (25)], because the direction cosine relative to the z-axis v̂k only contains the information of the elevation angle ̂k . However, the elevation angle estimate ̂k and (̂2;x)kk in [1, Eq. (32)] are not one-to-one related to the direction cosines v̂k and ŵk (k = 1; 2; . . . ; K), respectively. Thus, the expression of [1, Eq. (32)] is incorrect. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that the so-called two L-shape algorithm in [1] has the similar problem in pair matching. To remove this problem, coupling information must be employed. We can resort to the “rotational perturbation” method proposed by A. J. van der Veen et al. (see [2] and [3] for more details) to pair the respective members of two sets of estimates. The same numerical example as Fig. 1 is conducted to evaluate the pairing performance, and the results are presented in Fig. 2. We observe that no failure occurs after applying the rotational perturbation method. REFERENCES

An Improved 2-D DOA Estimation with L-shaped Arrays Based on PM
In this paper, an improved two-dimensional (2-D) direction of arrival (DOA) estimation method is proposed for narrow signals impinging on an L-shaped arrays. Based on the propagator method (PM), the computational loads of the proposed method can be significantly smaller since the PM does not require any eigenvalue decomposition of the received data. With a propagator matrix, the proposed method...

A novel scheme is proposed for direction finding with uniform rectangular planar array. First, the characteristics of noncircular signals and Euler's formula are exploited to construct a new real-valued rectangular array data. Then, the rotational invariance relations for real-valued signal space are depicted in a new way. Finally the real-valued propagator method is utilized to estimate the pa...

متن کاملTwo Dimensional Angle of Arrival Estimation
We present a new method for the estimation of two dimensional (2D) angles of arrival (AOAs), namely, azimuth and incidence angles of multiple narrowband signals of same frequency in the far field of antenna array. In this report, we propose an algorithm which uses an L-shape array configuration [1]. We extend the polynomial based approach presented in [2] to two dimensional AOA estimation. We C...
متن کاملNovel two-dimensional DOA estimation with L-shaped array
Two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation has played an important role in array signal processing. In this article, we address a problem of bind 2D-DOA estimation with L-shaped array. This article links the 2D-DOA estimation problem to the trilinear model. To exploit this link, we derive a trilinear decomposition-based 2D-DOA estimation algorithm in L-shaped array. Without spec...
